As Christmas weekend approaches and 2022 winds down, I like to pause amongst the hustle and bustle and reflect on the last 12 months. This year has seen many moments of success and joy, a few heartaches, and some not so great moments.
Peoplezest has had great moments of collaboration and growth this year. We continue to work with many amazing clients each year. The team was able to collaborate on new project developments, we grew our partnerships while continuing our relationship with companies that understand the value of the people connection. Two new team members were brought on, Amy as our Operations Manager and Courtney as our Marketing Manager, their talent and ideas have already made such a huge impact. Darla took on an elevated role as VP of Recruiting, already accomplishing many wins, while continuing to exemplify the peoplezest values. I am so grateful for the joy and successes peoplezest has seen this year!
Some not so great moments! I have to tell on myself… a few times a month on the weekend, I serve as an EMT for our county’s EMS. One shift, I was driving the ambulance back to the station as my partner was filling out reports in the passenger seat. Reversing in the ambulance is not my strong suit, but I do pretty well given the big box behind me. This particular time, I am backing into the bay and it is hard to see with the tight fit and then, BOOM… and bounce! My partner and I look at each other and cannot imagine what I have hit. I would love to say it was simply the side of the bay, but it was not. I had put the ambulance in the wrong bay and backed into the other ambulance. Luckily little damage was made, but I will never live that down and my fellow peers will never let me forget my big oops.
Heartache is thankfully something I have had little of. If I do, I have the ten minute rule, I get 10 minutes to be sad then make a plan and move on. My recent heartache did not fit into that norm. The day after Thanksgiving, my 23 year old daughter was in a car accident. That one second that someone accidently failed to yield changed so much. Thankfully, God had his hand on her and she has no life threatening injuries. To get that call though, is scary to say the least. Her dad and I traveled 2.5 hours to meet her at the hospital she was transferred to, not knowing at the time what her injuries were. She ended up with a lot of bruising and 2 broken hands, those injuries will heal with time. She was traveling with her two animals, Bailey, her dog who did not survive and her cat, Spice Seed who ran from the wreck and remains missing. I have granted all in the family more than 10 minutes of heartache as we navigate the healing process. We will remain grateful for the miracles that did come out of heartache.
I am looking forward to 2023 and the fresh start that each new year brings. This upcoming year is an especially exciting one as peoplezest will celebrate being in business for 20 years. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
