In today’s job market finding quality candidates is the focus. Job seekers have more opportunities than ever to seek out the type of company they want to work for. So how do companies make sure they are able to engage with the type of employees they are after? Company executives and hiring managers want top tier applicants to fill their roles, but finding the right person takes time and resources.
Consider these two recent client interactions. Do you value employees as your #1 asset? Are you sure your candidate reach extends to those who are not currently looking for new employment?
I recently reached out to an executive whose company’s hiring ads I come across regularly to see if they had interest in using our recruiting firm to present a highly qualified candidate pool. Their response, “we don’t use recruiters,” which does not align with the employee first company motto. If a company is not willing to use the best resources available to get the best employees, how can a candidate be assured it will do what is best to keep them? A recruiting service is more than a hireable list of people, they bring to the table a neutral perspective, nurtured relationships and industry expertise.
We have been working to fill an executive level placement with a company after being hired because of our industry expertise. Our lead recruiter had a candidate in mind that wasn’t in our current hiring pool, but someone with whom we had worked with in the past and developed an ongoing relationship. Initially the person was not interested, but after several conversations weighing the pros and cons, the candidate decided a conversation with the hiring manager was worth a possible move. In the end it was a great match. This did not happen based on a job listing, it happened because of a relationship built on mutual trust, respect, and know-how.
Companies must present unique ways to engage candidates in the current job market. Passive and active job seekers have many choices of where and how to work. The hiring process is a courting one, where the potential employee must feel the value your company has from the first interview to the offer letter and as they begin their employee journey. A recruitment company is there to help give your company back its time and resources. Our job and area of expertise is to completely focus on finding quality candidates, so your company can focus on its area of expertise.
