As I sat down to write my last blog of 2023, it gave me pause to think about the past 12 months. It is hard to believe that this time last year, I was in such a different place personally and professionally. December 2023 was spent living with my youngest adult daughter, Sage. She had been in a bad car wreck, broken both of her hands, her dog died in the wreck, and the cat escaped. All during the holiday season and finals for her Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. When things go a little wonky you just hunker down and know you will get to the other side of things—and that we did!
During that recovery time I decided our word of 2023 would be Refresh. It seemed appropriate since we needed to get Sage back on her feet and would be celebrating peoplezest’s 20th anniversary! Here is a little reflection of the year:
We got Sage through her hand surgery and thankfully, both hands functioning again. We celebrated those milestones of holding a hairbrush, driving, and all the things you can only imagine you need to do using your hands. We also experienced a miracle—ninety days after the wreck (miles away from where any of us lived) her cat was found! Spice Seed is back with her family and living the luxury life after being a stray through some cold bitter days. They also welcomed a new dog, Timber and he has settled into the family nicely.
We had a grand celebration to cheers to our 20th anniversary, the four of us went for a wonderful dinner and celebrated! The team surprised me with a book that had many messages from beloved candidates and clients through the years along with a few of my favorite things. It is a strange and wonderful feeling to have been in business 20 years!
I still love every MINUTE of what I do. There is no better feeling than having the trust of a candidate in guiding them through the interview process and changing jobs to take the next steps in elevating their career path. I also love our clients who partner with us to find that special person who is the perfect fit for their company.
I am looking forward to sharing our 2024 word of the year with you in January and the vision behind it. Till then I want to say Merry Christmas to each and every one of you! I am in awe every day that God created a Son who was born on December 25th, walked our earth and then gave the ultimate sacrifice for ME and YOU.
As always, peoplezest looks forward to continuing to help you through this season and in the new year with your executive placements, strategizing services, career counseling and resume needs.
